Green Roof Performance & Substrate Studies

We explore how substrate composition impacts the long-term success of green roofs — both functionally and ecologically.

Through hands-on experience with materials like brick chippings (Ziegelsplitt), expanded clay, and pumice, we assess water retention, drainage, planting depth, and root behavior under real-world conditions.

Our goal is to better understand how FLL-compliant systems perform over time — and how these systems can be refined to suit local climates and site-specific needs.
