Green Roof Performance & Substrate Studies

We examine how substrate composition influences the long-term performance of green roofs, both functionally and ecologically.

Through hands-on testing with materials such as brick chippings (Ziegelsplitt), expanded clay, and pumice, we assess water retention, drainage behavior, planting depth, and root development under real site conditions.

Our focus is on understanding how FLL-compliant systems perform over time and how substrate compositions can be adapted to local climates and site-specific requirements.
